Actor JP Reddy, also known as JP, is preparing to showcase a story that he believes resonates with anyone who has moved from a village to a city in pursuit of better education. The upcoming film, titled Karki, marks the debut of Tamil director Pavitran in Kannada cinema. In discussing the movie, JP mentions, “We delve into various compelling themes in this narrative, including caste dynamics and the fundamental right to education.” Although embodying the character presented its challenges, JP recollects his initial reservations: “Upon hearing the plot from director Pavitran, I was uncertain about fitting the role. Coming from an urban background, transforming my entire demeanor to portray a local boy seemed daunting. I underwent a physical transformation by shedding 6 kilos and wore only four shirts sourced from Gurjari market in Shivajinagar for the entire filming process. My appearance and mannerisms underwent significant changes. As actors, we immerse ourselves in the character we portray. If we cannot embody the character authentically, we should reconsider our acting pursuits. Embracing the character's essence is essential for a convincing performance.”
